World Social Forum 2016

The goal of the WSF 2016 is to gather tens of thousands of people from groups in civil society, organizations and social movements who want to build a sustainable and inclusive world, where every person and every people has its place and can make its voice heard.

Started in 2001 in Brazil, The World Social Forum (WSF) is the largest gathering of civil society to find solutions to the problems of our time by building concrete alternatives to the neoliberal economic model and to politics based on the exploitation of human beings and nature.

The WSF is a meeting place for social movements, freedom of expression, citizen exchanges, artistic demonstrations, advocacy and inspiration. It creates concrete commitments and leads to the development of action strategies by strong networks. Its mission: to build together in a movement of international solidarity a better world founded on social and environmental justice, a social and solidary economy, a participative democracy and the acknowledgement of equal dignity for all.

The WSF will make history by being the first to be held in a country said of the ‘’North’’. Facing the global crisis that is affecting all of humanity, it is crucial to go beyond certain divisions that still persist today and to invite movements and actors from all continents to act together.
